Sakis Abatzidis is a Greek composer. He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he studied music theory and piano and attended law classes at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He continued his studies at the Department of Musical Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, whence he graduated with a degree in Composition, and later at the Ionian University in Corfu, gaining a Master’s degree (Mmus) in  Composing music for the Cinema, Theatre and the Performing Arts.

Since 2001 he has actively participated in concerts of chamber music, modern music and music for the cinema, theatre and the performing arts both as a musician and as a composer. In 2004 he created the minimal music band “Somnia”, with which he presented part of his composing work in concerts in Greece.

He composes orchestral and vocal music as well as music for film, theatre and modern dance.

 

INDICATIVE PROJECTS / SELECTED WORKS:

2022: Digital Release of the album “Utopias”. The album was recorded at the “Royal Alzheimer Hall” Studios in Thessaloniki.

2018: CD / Digital Release of  the album “Restart”. The album was recorded at the “Royal Alzheimer Hall” Studios in Thessaloniki.

2016: Music for the dance perfomance “The nest / one route to freedom” created and presented by mesdames Despina Kapoulitsa and Eliza Moschopoulou at the 51st “Dimitria”, the Cultural Festival of Thessaloniki.

2010: Music for the puppet show “The fisherman and his soul” (based on Oscar Wilde’s “The happy prince and other stories”) presented at the “Espacio Dos” Festival in Thessaloniki.
